Now that Wickham Station is nearing completition, we move on to the next model project. Nathan has a number of WW2 Airfix kits to make and I have re kindled the idea of building a London Underground Layout!
I have always had a facination with the London Underground, it amazes me how this was built in the 1800's and is still running today. The only snag in this great plan is cost! Our model railway hobby is always operating on a low budget. We laugh about how Mum is nicknamed 'High Council' as she has to authorise any purchases for our hobby.
If I am truthful I would love to buy the Bachmann London Underground rolling stock, but don't have a spare £300 to £400! And anyway 'High Council' definately would not authorise this purchase! Therefore we need a low cost way of building this layout.
We have decided on making a diorama, with lighting and as much detail as possible. Many years ago I saw a couple of diorama kits that used to be sold by Conner & Butler, although they are no longer trading.

The above images are of the kits that I mentioned. Maybe we could combine the two and come up with a design. I would like a two tier layout with the tube tunnel and station below. All lit with LED lighting.
